Zelensky to meet Trump, sign mineral deal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington on Friday, February 28, to sign a rare mineral deal.
A week ago, Trump called Zelensky a 'dictator'. He even blamed Ukraine for Russia's invasion in February 2022.
Despite Trump's recent focus on Russia, Kiev is trying to garner global support. Two weeks ago, Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the three-year war.
Trump's tone has softened in recent days after visits by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Addressing Zelensky on Thursday, Trump said, "I have a lot of respect for him. We will work very well together."
