Using Gmail without the Internet
Users can use Gmail without the Internet if they want. However, to get this facility, "offline access mode" will need to be enabled. Users can also search and respond to Gmail in this mode. Note that this feature only works with Google Chrome.
To enable "offline access mode", you must first log in to Gmail. Then click on the “Settings” icon and click on “See All Settings”. Then click on “Offline” at the top and turn it on.
Sometimes, Gmail has trouble finding the desired content. However, this problem has the “Advanced Search” feature. After entering the email address in the Gmail search box, various search filters will appear. There, you can easily search for emails using attachments, dates, etc.
‘Smart Compose’ to write emails quickly
Users can write emails quickly using the “Smart Compose” feature. It runs on machine learning and makes suggestions. And this “Smart Compose” is a Google account level setting. Changes made to the “Smart Compose” settings take effect only if you are logged in to the account.
To activate this feature, you need to click on the “Settings” icon at the top of Gmail. Then go to “See All Settings” and “General” and enable “Smart Compose”.
This feature allows you to send emails securely. This is because using “Confidential Mode” will automatically delete the email after a certain period of time, which maintains security. And you cannot take a screenshot of an email sent in Confidential Mode. You cannot even download, print, or forward it.
To enable this feature, click the Compose button and write the email, then click the “Padlock Clock Icon” at the bottom to enable “Confidential Mode”. Then, set the expiration date for the email from the “Set Expiration” option. Then, click the Send button and the email will be sent to the specified address.
You can archive, delete, read, or unread emails by “swiping” in the Gmail app on your smartphone. Usually, swiping right and left can be used to archive emails. However, if the user wants, they can add their own options here. For example, they can swipe to delete emails, mark them as read or unread.
For this, by entering the app's settings and going to the "Email Swipe Actions" option from the General Settings option, you will find the "Right Swipe" and "Left Swipe" options. To use the preferred option, you just need to select "Change"
